Bone Grafting & Guided Tissue Regeneration
Bone loss occurs after tooth removal – to minimize bone loss you may need to fill the area with artificial bone graft material, especially if you are planning an implant in the future. This bone is prepared from cadavers – human or non human and used to get the patient’s own bone to grow into the repair site. It is quite effective and very safe. Synthetic materials can also be used to stimulate bone formation.
Membranes are placed over the graft material to protect it and can be bio-absorbable. Some may require removal after few weeks. Other regenerative procedures involve the use of bioactive protein gels.
